Proof of work

op
This is me trying to place the shapes together for a video so they act as groups of shapes so my building can come together in a unique and interesting way.

This is the finishing touches of me placing the shapes where i want them before they come together in my animation.

In this photo im changing the shapes and tweaking some peices of my building.

this is my attempt on finding the right amount of lighting and experimenting with lighting inside of the building.

here i am adding texture to my animation. As you can see the tiles placed in the building are made for my OSG submission so it doesnt look plain white.

"The Tiled Pentagons"

My model is influenced by Peter Eisenmans work and uses similar techniques and shapes. My building uses a stacking effect where pentagons are stacked on top of each other and they all overlap as the shape blends into itself as the main pentagon is in the centre of the structure, and have used my animations through a stacking effect to get my idea across. My structure has also been slightly tweaked since my last assignment, and this time uses tiles on its facade. It has been constructed to work better through the use of materials and tweaking of shapes and sizes. I have strategically placed the materials of tiles in areas where it wouldn't look like there is too much or not enough so that my building doesn't have one focus point on it ,but rather I want the whole facade to be paid attention to.

Markers

These markers i have used for my cardboard shape.

NOTE TO LECTURER + MARKERS : 3DS MAX SUBMISSION

If my 3DS MAX doesnt work in 3ds MAX 2010, try opening it in 3DS MAX 2012 it is more likely that it will work. Sorry for any inconvenience that this may have caused.
3 Archetypes

The stacking technique used in Eisenmans stadium gave me the idea of making my model overlap and connect.

The isolated pieces of this design influenced me on making my building have several different sizes of the same shape spread out.

This archetype  helped me think of a way on how to connect my shapes together as a whole where the eye wont wonder off to much, and made me keep it simple.

3 chosen photographs

Overlapping - Eisenmans house 2 was one of the major influences in my building because it is similar to number IV. The shape and 90 degree columns and walls and his overlapping technique, have been used in my building.

Simplicity- The colours used on this building gave me an inside on many of Eisemans buildings, he tends to keep the colours simple and not to crazy and dramatic. So i have used only a handful of colours for my building.

Irregular - i really liked the glass openess in this building with its glass facade. I have potrayed alot of open areas in my building and have used the idea of creating an irregular shapes in my building, much like the ones Eisenman creates.

Reflection on how you have translated 2D visual ideas into 3D concepts

I have found many images and have read about on Peter Eisenmans work and have incorporated some of his design technique in my design model and making the change of 2D visual ideas into 3D. His overlapping style impressed me where he takes a simple building block and makes the shape irregular by making the openings and walls stick out, an example is the Peter Eisenman “House VI” which had an enormous influence on my design.  Eisenmans technical building design also caught my attention with his construction style where the trusses, columns and walls are constructed in a way which are quite simple but give the illusion of seeming complex.

Short Analysis on Peter Eisenmans house IV

Peter Eisenmans house IV is made basically created by simply cutting out holes from a rectangle by methodically manipulating using a grid. he created the form of four planes and repeated the process numerous times until he was satisfied with the open spaces which had been formed and also cause the slabs and columns to lack their purpose on holding up the structure. The envelope of the structure is designed by the changes made to the elements of the four slabs. This made the structure minimize construction techniques and relied more on the manipulated spaces formed.
